There are 12 songs in *Equestria Girls 2: Rainbow Rocks*

So, Equestria Girls 2: Rainbow Rocks is officially A Thing now.  I’m skeptical, given that the first EqG was “meh”, especially compared to FiM’s usual quality.  That said, I’ll give it a chance.

The only concrete thing I have to say about it is this:

There are 12 songs.

By Daniel Ingram.

In a movie apparently dedicated to The Power of Rock.

This means that everything else about the movie could be absolutely abysmal, and it would still probably be a net gain for humanity.

I’m trying to keep a cautious optimism about it, but it’s hard to do in light of getting more and more information on it. I expect it has a better chance than EqG of being decent for one reason alone: EqG, due to the plot itself, spent 20+ minutes reintroducing the audience to characters they already knew. That, theoretically, is out of the way this time, giving the writers more time to focus on writing an actual story.

Ingram putting out so much music for one film concerns me, though I will probably enjoy it anyway. I love Ingram’s music, but 12 songs in one film is … a lot. And it makes me wonder how they’ll find time to put anything else in.
